Long term trends give cause for concern
Debauchery, hedonism and 24-hour partying. It says something about our society that these are expected to be long-term holiday trends in the future.
Euromonitor international, the research company, says these types of holidays are becoming increasingly popular in the US, where cities such as Las Vegas are seen as the party capital of the world.
Funny that, as not long ago the city tried to promote itself as a family destination.
Meanwhile, adult all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, where anything goes, are reporting record bookings.
And, what’s popular in the US will surely become trendy over here before long.
Not only that, but you’ll be able to see and read about all the glorious details as people post their holiday adventures on social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace.
If any of these holidays seem remotely interesting, then I suggest you watch one of the many documentaries about them on Channel Five and satellite stations. Without wishing to generalise, they are often populated by people that you would go a long way to avoid.
Anyway, these days I’m looking to chill out somewhere quiet on holiday. So please let me know if anywhere becomes a hedonistic hot-spot, so that I can avoid it like the plague.
