Paris is hot

The French capital has become incredibly popular in recent months as holidaymakers return to choosing traditional destinations for short breaks.

For the whole of 2006, hotels reported revenues up seven per cent compared with 2005, and in December they rose 10 per cent compared with the same month the previous year.

According to MKG Consulting, Paris hotels reported almost no vacancies in the last few days of 2006.

The group also predicts a strong 2007, and perhaps this is partly due to the attitude of the people. Mike writes to tell me: “Where does this myth of stroppy or rude Parisians come from? I’ve visited Paris around 15 times in the last 10 years and only ever encountered two (stroppy Parisians).”

What do you love about Paris?
