Kristiansand Norway’s most southerly city and cruise port, Kristiansand has excellent beaches, superb scenery, fascinating history and a range of attractions that make it the most popular holiday spot for Norwegians as well as tourists. History Kristiansand is a Renaissance city, founded in 1641 by King Christian IV as a market town to encourage growth in this area of strategic significance. The town also provided a local economic base for construction of fortifications and a population for defence of the area.
