Punctuality record worsens
The punctuality of airlines has worsened in recent times, but average delays are still relatively minor.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the on-time performance – defined as early to 15 minutes late – of scheduled airlines between April and June 2007, at ten UK airports, fell from 72 per cent to 68 per cent compared with the same period last year. However, the average delay was only 17 minutes.
During the period, only 67 per cent of charter airlines departed on time, compared with 69 per cent in the same period of 2006. The average delay was 25 minutes.
What’s the worst flight delay you have experienced?
