Folkestone to Calais by Eurotunnel

Folkestone to Calais by Eurotunnel Tunnel Crossing - 35 Minutes Folkestone Eurotunnel Terminal - The terminal at Folkestone for the cross channel tunnel is closely situated to the port of Dover sea crossings and just 5 minutes from the town of Folkestone. The town of Folkestone is a seaside resort town on the south coast of Kent, England, traditionally known as "The Garden Coast". Situated at the foot of the North Downs, the town has stunning views of the surrounding countryside as well as the coast of France. Eurotunnel or Channel Tunnel is a 51k rail tunnel under the sea bed of the English Channel connecting Folkestone to Coquelles near Calais in France. Eurotunnel offers the fastest connection to Europe from the UK and is a feat of engineering that The American Society of Civil Engineers has deemed it one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. The tunnel is the longest under sea tunnel in the world and was a Anglo / French cooperation which took 50 years in the making and finally opened for business in 1995. The tunnels carry special high speed trains known as Le Shuttle which carry both vehicles and passengers. There are up to 53 crossings per day with departures every 10 minutes at peak times and takes only 35 minutes to arrive in Coquelles, France. Calais Tunnel - Eurotunnel actually arrives at Coquelles which is just outside Calais. Calais overlooks the Strait of Dover, the narrowest point in the English Channel, which is only 34 km (21 miles) wide at this point and is the closest French town to the United Kingdom. From Calais you can access France and is the gateway to Europe and beyond via the open roads and well designed infrastructure.
