Stroppy Parisians get friendly
It’s a beautiful city, but expensive to stay there, is a familiar comment from visitors to Paris. But things are changing.
Traditional British bed and breakfast joints have sprung up in the French capital – there are now 500 of them, compared with 250 a year ago.
The Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoe, has even launched a quality certificate for bed and breakfast houses and a publicity campaign to encourage Parisians to make their spare rooms available.
Chantal Goldstein, chairman of Parisiens Associes, an association that promotes upmarket bed and breakfast accommodation, said: “Parisians had a bad reputation for being stressed and angry and we want to change that. We wanted tourists to see what Parisians are really like and what an extraordinary city this is.”
Prices are on average 80 Euros per room per night.
Have you ever stayed with a Parisian family? And were they stressed out and stroppy?
