Windy passenger leads to flight chaos
In these environmentally-friendly days, wind power may be something worth considering, but one passenger’s flatulence certainly did nothing to help save the planet on a recent American Airlines flight.
A Dallas-bound aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in Nashville after several passengers reported smelling burning sulphur. A woman who had passed wind decided to light a match to disguise the smell. How stupid was she?
Of course, it lead to chaotic scenes, with all 99 passengers and five crew members taken off the aircraft and screened, while the plane and luggage were all scrutinised.
The flight later took off, without the women, who was no doubt kept away from fellow passengers for her own safety. But, she wasn’t charged. I would like to know why – surely there was a case for charging her with crass stupidity, at the very least.
Apparently, she had a medical condition which embarrassed her – the kind a lot of us have after some spicy food.
However, this incident may prompt the authorities to review what is permitted in cabins. Although knives and sharp objects are banned, incredibly it is perfectly legal to take boxes of matches on board – check it out.
What do you think of the regulations?
