Your shout – about internet booking
Lots of people wrote in to tell me about their surfing (on the keyboard rather than the waves) habits this week.
Trawling through the replies, it seems most agree with the results of the survey that I wrote about in the last newsletter. Plenty of people are using the Internet to search for holidays during their lunch times with, it must be said, the blessing of their employers. Don’t forget to get outside for a bit of fresh air occasionally, though!
Isobel and Jackie wrote in separately to say that they often searched and made bookings throughout the day when they should really be working. Their desks are in such a position that they can spot when a senior manager is coming their way! Don’t worry, your surnames will remain a secret.
Jenny, Steve and Ruth all said that their employers have a ban on them using the Internet for anything other than work, at any time during the day. That sounds very tight to me. If you are having a sandwich break at work, what’s the difference between reading the paper and having a look at the Internet?
Anyway, lots of people also like to book at home, pointing out that they have more time and feel more relaxed when they are on their own away from the work environment.
