Your Shout – from my Nov05 mailbox
My views on the environment stirred up some passionate responses. John says travellers have got to make up their mind whether they want to protect the planet or have cheap holidays. I’m afraid, John, that while people often say they are prepared to pay extra to help, or forego air travel altogether, when push comes to shove they want a deal. It’s a reflection of today’s society – everybody wants something for nothing. Brian believes one percent of the average blue collar worker’s weekly wage should pay for fuel. It’s an interesting theory but I’m not sure any government would see it as a vote winner.
Barbara wants to know the ideal destination for a Christmas break. Goodness me, take your pick as anywhere away from the relatives will probably do nicely. For me, it would have to be a beautiful ski resort like Aspen in Colorado (I’m a bit biased, as I spent a few months working in the town). Unfortunately, it’s a bit pricey. Anyway, what do you think? Where would you send Barbara?
